A fight breaks out at the Jackson Football Stadium and ends early

JACKSON, MI – A fight broke out at a Jackson high school football game Friday night, ending the game early.

The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, during a game against Jackson High School and Haslett High School at Jackson’s Withington Stadium, said Kriss Giannetti, assistant director of communications for Jackson Public Schools.

According to a release from Jackson Public Schools, the fight initially broke out inside the stadium and then spread outside the stadium Facebook page. It is unclear whether the fight involved players or spectators attending the match.

Giannetti said Jackson police officers were already on site at the game and helped secure the area.

The school implemented shelter-in-place protocols as a precaution, with teams and coaches moved to the team area under the stands and fans moved to the north end of the stadium, Giannetti said.

Giannetti said the fight ended the game early and all spectators and students were forced to leave the stadium.

Haslett finished the game 42-24, WILX reported.

As of Saturday morning, Jackson school officials did not immediately respond to MLive’s inquiries about whether any were injured or arrested in the fight, or how many people were involved.
