Clay County crash leaves Starke man dead

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers say a man has died following a crash in Middleburg.

The victim was a 44-year-old man from Starke who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Investigators say he was driving westbound on Carter Spencer Road, rounding a curve, when he left the roadway on the right side.

He then went through a fence, hit a tree and suffered fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at Orange Park Medical Center.

The lead investigator on this case is FHP Corporal R. Davenport.
