The Bears add RB Travis Homer and DE Jacob Martin from injured reserve

The day after two vacancies were created, Bears promoted running Travis Homer and defensive end Jacob Martin on injured reserve Saturday. The team also promoted veteran safety Tarvarius Moore ahead of Sunday afternoon’s game at Commanders.

Martin started the season on IR with a finger injury, while Homer injured his finger and was placed on IR on September 21. Both practiced this week and were listed as absent for Friday’s game.

To make room for the two, the Bears waived cornerback Velus Jones, who received and turned, and waived fullback Khari Blasingame.

Jones, a 2022 third-round draft pick who switched positions during training camp, has not been on the Bears’ gameday lineup since failing to start in Week 1. Blasingame watched as offensive lineman Doug Kramer was used at linebacker, in short: measurement situations.

Reserve player Larry Borom, who returned to practice off IR this week, was not promoted to the active roster.

The 4-2 Bears made the announcement Saturday as they prepared to fly to the Washington area.
