Israel’s terrifying attack leaves no refuge in Jabalia

This week, Israel marked the occasion of Antony Blinken’s visit with a new wave of horrific violence in Gaza. On Thursday evening, Israeli forces bombed and razed thirteen houses in the Jabalia refugee camp, killing over 150 Palestinianswhile hundreds of others reported injured, missing or imprisoned under the rubble. No one is able to reach or help the victims – access for civil defense, rescuers, doctors, hospitals, ambulances and even media is blockedwith concern that limiting reporting may be intended to prevent coverage atrocities.

It was a night of endless horror in Gaza. Entire families were massacred. Most of the victims were like that kidsincluding eleven children who were were burned alive in the al-Maghazi refugee camp after Israeli forces bombed approx youth club hiding children. Israel too bombed another school sheltering children from the Nuserat refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least seventeen people, most of them children. In Khan Younis, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) murdered fifteen members of the Farr family, most of them are children.

Laila el-Haddad, Gaza-born author who once accompanied Anthony Bourdain in Gaza, he wrote: “Many of you have seen the photo of these beautiful bluebirds massacred last night in Khan Younis by Israel using our American weapons and tax dollars. They were my cousins from my mother’s side. Don’t you dare talk to me about Kamala Harris or blame us for her loss.

According to Save the Children over twenty thousand children have been killed, buried under rubble or in mass graves, detained, lost or missing as a result of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.

The children who survive don’t fare much better. One heartbreaking videotaken by Palestinian journalist Mohammad Magadli, it shows a displaced orphan in Gaza walking barefoot for miles, carrying her injured sister on her back. “I’m tired,” she tells a reporter. “I’ve been wearing it for an hour and now I can’t.”

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) did just that warned that children in Gaza are dying in excruciating pain due to Israel’s deadly and intensifying blockade. UNICEF spokesman James Elder he said,

After more than a year of trying to shed light on the atrocities committed against children in Gaza, perhaps THIS is the most damning reality: children – deeply ill children – are being denied medical care that could save them in Gaza, and are then prevented from traveling to places where help is waiting.

In northern Gaza Al Jazeera reports that the Israeli army has attacked and occupied Kamal Adwan Hospital, where hundreds of doctors, injured patients and displaced families are seeking shelter. Footage shows hospital director Dr. Hossam Abu Safiyeh and other doctors in white coats raising their hands, pleading for safety.

As other videos and testimonies show, Israeli forces did this rounded several dozen civilians from the hospital, forcing them to do so take off your clothes — their fate remains unknown. Dr. Abu Safiyeh himself appears to be one of them kidnapped. On Saturday, after Dr. Abu Safiyeh refused to evacuate the hospital, Israeli soldiers killed his son Ibrahim. In a video shared by journalist Anas al-Sharif, Dr. Abu Safiyeh, still wearing a medical gown: leads a heartbreaking farewell prayer for his son. The next video shows Ibrahim’s mother saying goodbye to his son and weeps over His body.

Some Israeli soldiers posted on social media photos Palestinian civilians used as human shields. One of the IDF soldiers he spoke to: CNNshared that he can no longer eat meat, having razed to the ground and ran over hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza, dead and alive, until their bodies “squirted out.” (CNN report that portrays IDF war criminals as traumatic victimsmarks a new low for the US mainstream media and their shameless efforts to whitewash Israeli war crimes in Gaza.)

Meanwhile, violent rhetoric in Israel continues to escalate. “I just think we have to kill them, every single one of them. . . and that’s it” – a young Israeli settler recently said Sky News on air. In insane praise in Israel this week, the brother of an Israeli soldier killed in southern Lebanon, he said proudly: “You entered Gaza to take revenge. As many women, children, everyone you saw as possible – that’s what you wanted.

The horrors continue unabated, with women and children separated from each other, the forced displacement of thousands of civilians, the ruthless attack on the Gaza Strip the last operating hospitaland further blocking of aid. Thousands of civilians fled from Jabalia, leaving bodies lying in the streets. Videos shot in northern Gaza show Israeli soldiers driving away families at gunpoint.

Volker Türk, the UN human rights chief, thinks so warned that the “darkest moment” is unfolding in northern Gaza: “As we speak, the Israeli military is subjecting its entire population to bombings, sieges and the risk of starvation. It is unimaginable that the situation is getting worse day by day.” He further stated that

The Israeli government’s policies and practices in northern Gaza risk emptying the area of all Palestinians. We are facing what could be considered atrocities, including potentially crimes against humanity. These are universally accepted and binding standards designed to maintain the bare minimum of humanity.

This is ethnic cleansing carried out in broad daylight. Jewish Voice for Peace was published by a statement comparing Israel’s crimes in Gaza to the Holocaust, while Israeli legal group B’Tselem published a statement condemning “Israeli ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza.”

Israel does not hide its plans in Gaza. According to Israeli soldiers, IDF launched ‘attack’The generals’ plan” in northern Gaza – a plan for famine and ethnic cleansing Palestinians there. Israeli leaders are holding political conferences within slogan: “Conquer, evict, resettle.” In one event which was attended by several Knesset members from Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, along with Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Israeli settler leader Daniella Weiss declared that “the Arabs of the Gaza Strip have lost the right to be here.” Although Israeli officials do not deny it policy of deliberate starvation Palestinians in Gaza, Antony Blinken, playing the role of Netanyahu’s lawyer, insists that Israel is not implementing the Generals’ Plan.

These actions, committed during Blinken’s visit to Israel, are carried out with the consent of both sides of the United States. Although the Joe Biden administration did warned that Israel is implementing a “starvation policy” in Gaza – aimed at “almost triple“a level of hunger that is already killing kids — did nothing to stop her genocidal partner. Instead, the U.S. government has poured tens of billions of tax dollars into military aid to Israel, which has reached levels an unprecedented record since last year.

Ironically, President Biden gave a speech this week in which he made this statement: historic apology Native Americans for past injustices. Meanwhile, Biden continues to weaponize and finance the genocide of the century. A woman in the crowd during a party he asked Biden: “How can you apologize for genocide when you commit genocide in Gaza?”

The oppressed find no comfort in the prospect of historical justice – in the belief that future historians and leaders will perhaps view their plight more favorably. Palestinians, like Native Americans before them, want justice Nowon this earth, in their lifetime, while they are still alive and have the power to witness it.
