Teen killed, 1 adult injured in shooting in Southeast D.C. – NBC4 Washington

A 16-year-old boy is dead and an adult man was seriously injured in a shooting Friday afternoon, D.C. police said.

Seventh Precinct officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Langston Place, SE after calls reporting shots fired in the area just after 4 p.m. Friday.

When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.

While trying to help the man, the officers heard more shots. When they moved towards the sound of gunshots, they found the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both people were taken to hospital.

The 16-year-old, later identified as Darren Johnson, died from his injuries.

The adult is still undergoing treatment in hospital.

It’s unclear whether the adult and teen knew each other or what led to the shots. No potential shooters have been identified.

Shell casings were found Friday evening on Langston Place SE, said D.C. Deputy Police Chief LaShay Makal.
