Destin High School principal releases statement regarding student injured in crash

DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Multiple students were reportedly hospitalized after a crash in Destin on Friday evening.

One of these students attends Destin High School on Saturday, the principal of Destin High School released the following statement:

Dear Shark Families:

I want to share with you an update on a car accident in Destin last night that sent one of our students to the hospital. Last night, I personally visited the student and his father in the hospital and promised that his favorite dishes would be waiting for him as soon as he finished the surgery.

A multi-car crash also sent students from the South Walton area to the hospital. I was told that these students were being treated at hospitals in the Gulf Coast area.

This news had an impact on our school community, especially students and staff, as false rumors quickly spread on the Internet. Our Shark Counseling team will be on campus on Monday to help students and staff who may need additional support. If necessary, I will personally coordinate support for the student’s family.

Please keep the affected families in your thoughts and prayers, as well as our Sharks and the Seahawk community during this difficult time.
