The New York Jets are making a huge roster change ahead of a key Patriots contest

The New York Jets it worked clerk activated edge rusher Haason Reddick from the team’s exempt list to make him available for Sunday’s game against New England Patriots.

Under NFL rules, the Jets had to make such a move on Saturday. To make room for Reddick, the Jets released defensive end Takk McKinley.

New York also signed two players from its practice squad – offensive lineman Alec Lindstrom and backup Jarius Monroe.

ESPN He also announced Saturday that Reddick had officially signed a restructured one-year contract with the Jets.

For CBS SportsJoel Corry, Reddick will be paid a base salary of $8,708,333 for the remaining 11 weeks of the regular season. Before the match, he was expected to earn $14.25 million. To help him get as close to their base as possible, the Jets are offering him bonuses worth more than $5 million, including participation in games, waivers, selection to the Pro Bowl and being named to the Jets Super Bowl roster.

On Friday, the Jets’ interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Reddick had a good week of preparation and intended to use it on Sunday, although he wasn’t sure how much the Jets would use it.

He did not speak to the media and postponed any comments until Sunday’s match. He made a short statement to Jets fans via the team’s social media account.

“What’s up,” he said. “I feel good to be back on the pitch. I hope we can achieve something.”

The Pro Bowl prospect finished his break on Sunday and reported to the Jets on Monday. New York hopes Reddick can add pressure to the team’s pass rush, which has been solid so far. But considering the Jets have lost four in a row, they’ll take whatever they can get.

He had 51 sacks from 2020-23. Only Trey Hendrickson (53), Myles Garrett (58) and TJ Watt (62) had more sacks during that span. He is one of seven defensive players to have a streak of at least four seasons with 10 or more sacks in the last 10 years.

Lindstrom was brought up to give the Jets some depth on the offensive line with both right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker and backup Xavier Newman out. Newman is on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury on Sunday. Newman was a backup in several interior positions. Without Vera-Tucker and Newman, Jake Hanson is expected to start at right-back.

Monroe will provide depth in a position group that will be missing three players Sunday. Chuck Clark is on the bench, while Tony Adams and Ashtyn Davis have been ruled out.
