Woman shocked after hair salon shared photo of herself: ‘Not My Face’

A woman who allowed a new hair salon to take photos of her on social media after a haircut couldn’t believe what she saw when the photos were uploaded.

Tess Glimmerveen, 29, lives in Amsterdam and recently tried out new hair salon Holo after coming across their social media and finding the hairstyles looked impressive.

However, she noticed women in the photos, just as she described Newsweek“they were much more glamorous than me.”

Glimmerveen agreed to the appointment and was impressed by her hairdresser, who “really understood my vision” and was “very happy with the final cut.”

She asked them to take photos so she could send them to her girlfriend, while another employee asked for permission to take photos for the salon’s social media, to which Glimmerveen agreed.

However, what happened next made Glimmerveen extremely popular TikTok after she posted the story on her @tessglimm account on September 12, which was viewed more than 500,000 times.

First he showed her normal photos she had taken of her girlfriend and stated that “they weren’t the most photogenic photos of me I’ve ever seen,” and on the next slide he joked, “I guess they agreed.”

Since the version of Glimmerveen shared on Holo Salon’s Instagram wasn’t exactly Glimmerveen – it apparently stuck pass through the filter.

Newsweek contacted Holo Salon for comment via email and Instagram.

“The photo looked a bit like me, but (I didn’t) register it right away. I actually had to laugh out loud when I realized it was a photo of me but then FaceTuned,” she said Newsweek.

She later commented on Holo Salon’s Instagram post, stating that “that’s not my face,” and shortly after, Holo sent Glimmerveen an apology and deleted the post.

The apology was shown in a TikTok video update by Glimmerveen showing a text conversation in which the salon wrote: “Hi, I just saw your comment and wanted to apologize for using a filter on your photo. The marketing team did it. the post has been deleted. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience.

Meanwhile, Glimmerveen found the situation “funny” and shared it with friends, but it “really blew up” on TikTok.

Hundreds of TikTok users wrote in the comments under Glimmerveen’s video, defending her natural look and criticizing the use of filters, with one user writing: “Bro would you send this to me? You are so beautiful! This is so rude.”

“No, I would cry,” another user commented, while another called it “very suspicious.”

“You were stunning without it,” another TikTok user assured her, while another added: “You are absolutely stunning. Why on earth would they think this is okay?”

Glimmerveen said Newsweek she was touched by the “sweet and kind” responses, admitting she was “surprised that so many people reacted this way.”

She added that she had “no hard feelings towards” the salon and “I feel a bit sorry for it.” They were nice people and I’m still happy with my hairstyle.”

However, she noted: “I understand that some people feel a lot of pressure to create the perfect image. Plus, it’s very easy to fix a few things before posting a photo. Especially when such a salon wants to exude a little bit more radiance than I gave.”

Glimmerveen continued: “I’m confident in my skin, but even I felt a little weird when I saw it filters and regulations in my photo. I don’t look like that in real life, but should I? It’s kind of sad and I don’t let it get to me. But I see that other people actually feel like they have to change their appearance on social media to look like everyone else.”
