Trump recalls the campaign during a rally in Pa. “I’ll never forget this”

Gov. Tim Walz delivered a speech at a “Native Americans for Harris-Walz” rally in Window Rock, Arizona, on Saturday afternoon – a remote location on the Navajo Nation.

According to the campaign, Walz’s visit is the first visit to the Navajo Nation by a candidate on the presidential ticket this cycle.

“We are here because we do not take any vote for granted, but we are here to show respect to the Navajo Nation and earn your vote. Now I will tell you that we are acting as if everything is at risk because everything is on track,” he said.

Walz said that given the closeness of this election, especially in the battleground state of Arizona, Native votes could really tip the scales for Democrats.

“I think we’ll probably win the whole damn thing because of the work that’s been done here, the work that’s been done on the nation, and put Kamala Harris in the White House,” Walz said.

Walz claimed that Donald Trump had failed to provide support for Native Americans while in office, and particularly harshly criticized Trump for his meeting with the families of Navajo War veterans at the White House in 2017.

The event took place in front of an image of Andrew Jackson, the president who signed the legislation that ultimately led to the creation of the “Trail of Tears.”

“I don’t know if he knows his history well enough to know what he was doing, but I assure you that the people around him knew what an insult they had done to Indian country by having these heroes stand in front of this portrait,” Walz said.

Walz emphasized how his and Harris’ economic policies will boost tribal entrepreneurs and businesses and improve their health care options.

“I want to be clear and make sure you hear it and the whole country hears it. Kamala Harris and I recognize the promises this country has made to Indigenous peoples. We will protect and strengthen the bonds between our nations and uphold our trust and treaty obligations,” he said.
