Delhi News: JEE Candidate Jumps to Death After Failing in Exam, Writes a Note Saying, ‘Forgive me, I couldn’t…’

A 17-year-old girl took her own life while committing a crime suicide in the Jamia Nagar district of New Delhi.

She took this extreme step months after she reportedly failed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

The girl ended her life by jumping from the seventh floor of a residential building in Shaheen Bagh on Friday.

AND suicide A note was recovered in which the girl wrote: “Sorry, I couldn’t do it. I failed the JEE exam.”

“Yesterday at 11.25 am, a PCR report was received at PS Jamia Nagar regarding a 17-year-old girl jumping off the roof from the 7th floor of a building in Okhla Central Market. After passing class 12, she prepared for JEE. She left a suicide note, citing pressure to study and failure to meet expectations as the reason,” police said in a statement on Saturday.

The girl had earlier informed her mother that if she did not pass the engineering exam, she would take her own life, police said.

An inquiry under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is underway.

Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident is being widely shared on social media platforms.

On Friday (October 25), police said that in another case, a woman attempted to commit suicide, allegedly due to constant online harassment and life-threatening messages.

The incident took place at Idya in Urathkal police limits of Mangaluru district in Karnataka.

A man identified as Sharique was arrested in connection with the case.

According to a report by news agency PTI, hospital sources said she overdosed on paracetamol tablets, which allegedly ended her life.

According to the family, the woman received explicit and threatening messages via social media from Sharique, who allegedly intimidated her.

Based on their complaint, police arrested Sharique.
