Problems ’caused by broken leadership’ bigger than ‘any foreign threat’

Vice presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) defended former President Trump’s comments suggesting the use of military force on Election Day fight the “enemy within” In interview with NBC News published on Saturday.

“Well, I think Donald Trump said that these people pose a greater threat to the peace and security of the United States because America is strong enough to stand up to any foreign adversary,” Vance told Meet the Press host Kristen Welker.

“He said, and I agree, that our biggest threat is not a foreign adversary because we can handle those guys; we will handle foreign conflicts,” Vance added, then singled out former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (no).

“Under Nancy Pelosi’s long career in public government leadership, the United States has risen from the world’s leading industrial power to second only to China,” Vance said.

His criticism of the California representative signals a larger battle between the Republican and Democratic parties to secure razor-sharp races in the final days before the general election.

“Fundamentally, this rests on Nancy Pelosi’s shoulders, and if we’re going to have a more prosperous country, we have to realize that our own leadership has caused us to lose our industrial base to China,” Vance said.

Pelosi has publicly shared her own criticism of the senator, most recently taking issue with his revealing comments: personal connection to reproductive rights during the vice presidential debate.

Trump has was subjected to inspection since he said in an interview with Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo that the greater threat to the country than foreign adversaries are “insiders.” He added that any unrest from his critics after the election “should be very easily contained, if necessary, by the National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they cannot allow this to happen.”

Since then, Trump doubled down on his comments despite criticism.
