U-17 WWC: Flamingos crash after defeat to USA

Nigeria’s Flamingos were eliminated from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a 2-0 defeat to the USA in their quarter-final clash in Santiago.

Bankole Olowookere’s men won all three group games, scoring nine goals and conceding just once.

However, the West Africans found the Americans too difficult to defeat.

The Flamingos started the match well but then faltered.

Kennedy Fuller gave the USA the lead from the penalty spot three minutes before the break.

The Americans overtook the Nigerians, and Kimmi Ascanio scored the second goal in the 73rd minute.

The U.S. took revenge for its loss to Nigeria at the same stage of the competition two years ago in India.

They advanced to the semi-finals for the first time since 2008.
