MCC will host a fall biotechnology and health open house on the Lowell campus

Middlesex Community College helps students enter the workforce in the state’s most in-demand health and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) industries. A fall open house dedicated to MCC’s health and biotechnology programs will be held on Tuesday, October 29 at 5 p.m. in Lowell to introduce prospective students and their families to what they have to offer.

“Our medical students are well-prepared for the workforce, offering hands-on clinical and laboratory hours combined with an industry-specific curriculum taught by professors who are experts in their fields,” said Dean of Health Karen Townsend. “We are excited to showcase our programs, state-of-the-art spaces, supportive faculty and award-winning student support services. If you are interested in a rewarding and sustainable career in healthcare, join us at the event to learn more about how MCC can help you start your path.”

MCC’s health programs include nursing, dental assisting, dental hygiene, dental laboratory technology, diagnostic medical ultrasound, health care administration, medical assisting, medical laboratory technician and radiological technology. During the open house, participants will be able to tour facilities included in the program, such as the oral hygiene clinic, new nursing simulation rooms and laboratories, and a biotechnology laboratory.

“The biotechnology program at MCC is a leader in producing well-prepared graduates for industry careers in Massachusetts,” said STEM dean Marie Tupaj. “Our faculty bring their field experience to the classroom, as well as offering hands-on experience through a completely renovated lab and paid internship opportunities. The Open Day will allow us to showcase the value of the program, including the career development and networking opportunities we provide our students to guide them to success.”

Lowell’s open house will allow students and their families to meet with faculty, talk to staff from all areas of student services, take a campus tour and submit an application to MCC. Additional experiences include learning about academic and career advising, financial aid, free tutoring, dual enrollment, honors opportunities, and access to student and support services.

Middlesex will also be holding an autumn open day in Bedford at 5pm on Wednesday, November 6. Students will be able to learn about all programs, tour the Bedford campus and apply to MCC.

“MCC offers students of all ages, backgrounds and goals many opportunities to succeed,” said Associate Director of Admissions Jenna Hurd. “Whether you are exploring your options or want to learn more about our biotech and health options, we look forward to welcoming you to our campuses during our Open House!”
