One arrested after leaving the scene of an accident that destroyed multiple utility poles and damaged a fire hydrant

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – One person was arrested after leaving the scene of an early morning crash Saturday, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD).

Police said the crash occurred at 2:40 a.m. on East Clark Boulevard and involved two vehicles. One vehicle left the scene.

As a result of the disaster, three power poles were broken and a fire hydrant was damaged. It closed part of E. Clark Blvd. for several hours while crews worked to repair the poles.

MPD said the crash resulted in minor injuries.

The driver, who fled the scene, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to comply with notice and possession of a handgun while under the influence, MPD said.

Police did not provide any further details about the crash, including the name of the arrested driver.
