A fast-growing generative artificial intelligence company co-founded by the CEO of an ASX-listed pet care company is quietly making millions of dollars by enabling its users to create their own digital girlfriends or boyfriends.

Candy.AI launched in September last year and has attracted millions of users. It’s one of a number of “artificial intelligence girl” startups taking market share from erotic content sites like OnlyFans by allowing customers to create virtual partners that interact with them using large language models.
