Chelmsford High recognized as a School of Recognition by DESE

CHELMSFORD – Chelmsford High School was recently recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

As part of its annual accountability reporting process, DESE identifies a small number of schools across the Commonwealth to receive this distinction. This year there were only 57 of them.

Schools selected for recognition demonstrate high achievement, significant growth, and consistently meet or exceed accountability goals.

This is the first time a school in the Chelmsford Public School District has been recognized for this achievement.

“I am incredibly proud of our high school teachers, administrators and support staff for their dedication and commitment to providing a high-quality education to our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Jay Lang. “As a district, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where students can thrive and become well-rounded and knowledgeable learners. This achievement is another example of our students receiving an outstanding education and being set up for success.”

Chelmsford High School principal Stephen Murray said he was particularly proud of the students’ determination to do well in their MCAS tests, as well as the hard work put in by all CHS staff.

“Our level of success would not be possible without the concerted efforts of our teachers and paraeducators,” he said.

Murray also praised the district’s middle and elementary school teachers for helping build a solid educational foundation for students.

“We are very grateful to staff at every level in this district for providing Chelmsford High students with the skills and understanding they need to succeed,” he said.

Deputy Superintendent Linda Hirsch said receiving this honor is a testament to the district’s commitment to excellence in education.

“Our faculty and administration have made tremendous efforts over the years in support and programming to provide our students with the highest quality education,” she said. “This recognition highlights their efforts.”
