Killeen was arrested after shooting a girl he believed was cheating

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – A man was arrested in Killeen after he shot his girlfriend in the leg, who he believed was cheating on him, according to an affidavit.

Gavin Tracy Parks, 25, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The statement says officers were dispatched to a grocery store in Killeen on Nov. 3 on reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, the affidavit states they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim, according to the affidavit, told police he was walking on a nearby roadway when a car approached him and he was shot. The victim initially denied knowing the shooter’s identity, the statement said.

Police then spoke with a witness at the scene who said he heard a gunshot and ran toward the source of the sound, according to the affidavit.

The witness went on to say in the statement that he found the victim on the road and carried him to a grocery store to provide first aid.

Moments later, the victim was taken to hospital.

According to the affidavit, a hospital chaplain told police the victim claimed her boyfriend, later identified as Parks, accused her of cheating and intentionally shot her.

The victim said in a statement that she calls her boyfriend “Trey” but is known on the streets as “G-Baby.”

In the statement, the victim claimed that she was walking to the store when her boyfriend stood next to her and called out to her.

Detectives reviewed convenience store surveillance footage that showed Parks and the victim outside the store before the shooting, according to the affidavit.

The video began with Parks looking at the victim walking with an unknown man, and Parks walked away a short time later, the affidavit said.

A short time later, the witness can be seen on surveillance footage running in the same direction Parks went and returned to frame carrying the victim, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, police were able to find a social media account they believed belonged to the victim’s boyfriend and collected photos from it.

Officers later identified the person on the account as Parks, who has a tattoo above his eyebrow that reads “G-Baby,” according to the affidavit.

The victim, according to the affidavit, identified a man from a social media account as the man who shot him.

Parks was subsequently arrested and held in the Bell County Jail on $125,000 bail.
