AMC warns moviegoers watching ‘Wicked’

(Gray News) – AMC is warning moviegoers they won’t be allowed to sing along to “Wicked.”

The warning appears in a 30-second spot that will run before the film, which premieres this weekend.

“At AMC Theaters, silence is golden. No conversations. No texting. No singing. No crying. No flirting. And absolutely no insults. Enjoy the magic of movies,” the clip reads.

An AMC spokesman said IndyStar that this policy is nothing new, but often the rules are enforced before a specific film – in this case, “Wicked.”

The purpose of these rules is to prevent disruption and allow all guests to hear the film clearly.

Fans who watched the advanced screening of “Wicked” quickly noticed the warning, and most applauded the rules.

“I hated the thought of my first time being ruined by singing noisily in the days leading up to the show… I just wanted to be able to watch it all the first time,” one Reddit user he wrote in a comment.

Enforcement of policies may vary by location.
