Police find teenager ‘involved’ in fatal stabbing in Ahwatukee; no arrests were made

PHOENIX (AZ family) — Authorities say they have located a teenager involved in a stabbing that left another teenager dead in the Ahwatukee district on the weekend.

Phoenix police said Wednesday that an unidentified teenager gave a statement to investigators, but no arrests have been made in the death of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves.

On Saturday, November 16, around 3 a.m., Phoenix police were called to investigate the area around the stabbing 35th Way and Lakewood Parkwaysouth of Chandler Boulevard. Investigators arrived on scene and found Reeves seriously injured. He was taken to hospital, where he died the same night.

Authorities say Reeves was with a group of friends when a fight broke out and ended with a stabbing.

Detectives interviewed numerous witnesses, executed search warrants and seized various evidence in connection with the crime.

Reeves was a sophomore and member of the varsity football team in Mountain Pointe High School. Friends told Arizonas family that he joined the team as a freshman and dreamed of playing professional football.

AND the memorial took place earlier this weekwhere dozens of family members and friends gathered to honor the high school senior. The family announced that Reeves had decided to donate his organs.

“So many people take care of him and I will never forget him and we will live like this forever,” said Ceth Reeves, Jaylen’s uncle.
