A 2-year-old girl drowned in a flooded house in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY – A two-year-old girl who fell from a ladder and landed on the flooded ground floor of their home in the town of Baao in Camarines Sur died on Saturday, police said Sunday.

Police in Baao said the child’s mother was frantically searching for her daughter when she noticed she was missing around 3 p.m. and later found her in flood water.

The child was taken to the nearest hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The girl has not yet been reported dead in the Bicol region, which continues to be hardest hit by severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) as many areas remain submerged in flooding since its onset on Tuesday, October 22.

By Saturday afternoon, Bicol police reported that 34 people were dead, 19 injured and three people still missing after the storm brought heavy rains to the Bicol region.
