Police announcement regarding an allegation of sexual assault Pete HegsethFox News star nominated by the president-elect Donald Trump secretary of defense, reached Mediaite on Wednesday and contains graphic details of a meeting that took place in 2017.

The reportprovided by the city of Monterey, California, was previously provided to Hegseth in March 2021, per his request. It is 24 pages long and details allegations made by a woman who in 2017 said she suffered sexual assault by a cable news star at a Republican Women’s Conference.

Tim ParlatoreHegseth’s lawyer vehemently denied the assault when it was first reported last week that a detailed memo about the lawsuit had been sent to Trump’s team. Parlatore he said the sex was consensual and that Hegseth later paid his accuser under a non-disclosure agreement to protect his reputation. Hegseth was never charged with a crime.

In a new statement to Mediaite in light of the full police report, Parlatore said: “This police report confirms what I have said from the beginning, that the incident was thoroughly investigated and police found the allegations to be false, which is why no charges have been laid. “

The report includes accounts from several police officers who spoke with Hegseth, his accuser (who remains anonymous and is identified as Jane Doe throughout the report) and others present at the October 2017 conference.

According to the report, police first learned of the alleged assault when Doe, who was 30 at the time, went to a local hospital to be tested for a rape instrument. A nurse at the hospital called a Monterey police officer and reported an assault claim. A few days later, police spoke with Doe as part of their investigation.

Doe said she spoke with Hegseth on the last night of the conference, during which attendees drank in the suite and hotel bar. Doe told police that during the conference, Hegseth flirted with women and put his hands on their legs, prompting her to tell Hegseth that she didn’t appreciate the way he treated women.

Two different women who attended the conference and spoke to police said Hegseth put his hand on their feet and asked them to return to his room on separate occasions. One of the women working at the conference told police she told Hegseth that physical contact was unacceptable. She said she then called Doe to act as a buffer so he couldn’t pursue her further.

The report states that around midnight, Hegseth and Doe argued outside the hotel by the pool. Doe said this was the end of the treatment of women; Hegseth told police he didn’t remember the argument.

Police spoke to the hotel’s front desk employee who said he received multiple complaints around 1:30 a.m. about a couple disturbing the peace by the pool. There he found Doe and Hegseth, who, according to the police report, “began swearing” when he tried to talk to them.

Hegseth told the hotel employee he had “freedom of speech,” while Jane Doe told the employee they were Republicans and apologized for Hegseth, the employee added.

A hotel employee said Jane Doe then led Hegseth away. He said Hegseth appeared to be very drunk, while Jane Doe stood alone and appeared coherent.

The report said surveillance footage reviewed by police around 1:15 a.m. showed Doe and Hegseth walking toward the pool with their arms intertwined, and Doe “appeared to be smiling.”

Doe told police she had been drinking that evening and told a nurse she thought someone had slipped something into her drink.

She told police that after the pool was replaced, her memories became blurry and that her next memory was of an unfamiliar room. She said Hegseth took her phone and blocked the door with his body when she tried to leave. She told police she said “no” multiple times. She said she was next on the bed or couch and Hegseth was lying on top of her with his dog tags floating above her face. Hegseth, she said, ejaculated on her stomach. She said he then threw her a towel and asked if she was OK. She said she did not remember returning to her room that night.

Four days later she was admitted to hospital.

Several weeks after the alleged assault, police spoke to Hegseth as part of their investigation. During a telephone conversation with a Monterey detective, Hegseth insisted that the sex was consensual.

He said he was “excited” but not drunk, and that Doe escorted him out of the bar before returning to his hotel room. He said Doe would not leave his hotel room and that the two began having consensual sex.

He said Doe asked him if he had a condom, to which he replied he didn’t, and asked her if he didn’t mind. He said he told her they could stop if that was a problem. Hegseth also said he ejaculated on Doe’s body. After sex, Hegseth said Doe became remorseful early on and told her husband that she had fallen asleep on the couch in someone else’s room.

During a second interview with police after the first interview, Doe provided more recollections of the alleged encounter. She said she has since suffered nightmares and memory loss. Another person who spoke to police said Doe had been crying “secretly” and “out of the blue” since that night.
