Two men have died in a murder-suicide in Kingsland

Two people were dead following a murder-suicide in Kingsland on Tuesday evening.

The Llano County The sheriff’s office said it happened Nov. 19 at a home on Skyline Drive near Ridgeway Street.

Deputies were called to a home on Skyline Drive for multiple shots fired. The woman who called said she had locked herself in the house with her four-year-old daughter. She believed her friend may have been shot by her ex-boyfriend, Jon Deron Kendrick.

When the first deputies arrived, he immediately heard two shots coming from the backyard of the home. The deputy did not see any movement in the yard due to the trees and it was dark outside.

Law enforcement made attempts to contact Kendrick. When that didn’t work, officers went to the house and found two men dead on the porch. Both with gunshot wounds.

It was determined that one of the men was 35-year-old Jon Kendrick Kingsland.

The name of the second man who died will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

The woman and her child were found in the house, unarmed.

“About 6:10 we heard gunshots, but we didn’t know what kind of gunshots because it’s very common in this area,” said Elizabeth Lemon, who spoke to FOX 7 Austin in Spanish.

She was going to pick up her daughter from school.

“When we came back, we saw that several streets were closed and that the police were there, and we didn’t know what was happening,” she said.

“Suddenly you hear these shots and you think, what happened?” said Dalia Ixek, who spoke to FOX 7 Austin in Spanish. She lives nearby too. “And now the kids can’t be outside because something might happen to them and you don’t know what to do.”

Parents, especially children in the neighborhood, say that from now on this will be on their minds when they leave school.

“I’m afraid because what will happen if one day my mother can’t pick me up and I have to go alone?” – said Genesis Xagada, the kid next door.

The sheriff’s office was not available for an interview Wednesday.

They said they are not closing the investigation yet because they want to first make sure no other people are involved.
