MARQUETTE – Over the past six months, six defendants have been sentenced to prison for domestic violence crimes after being charged by the Northern Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan, said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten.

In a news release, Totten announced that Ronald Burt Krull, 56, of Kinross, was sentenced this week to 30 months in prison for assault in the strangulation of an intimate partner.

“The harsh reality is that millions of Americans live in fear of domestic violence every day,” he added. Totten said. “My office stands with victims and will continue to do everything we can to protect them and work with law enforcement to hold perpetrators accountable.”

The court has already sentenced the defendants:

— On June 5, Steven Webster, 31, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, was sentenced to five years in prison for domestic assault by a habitual felon.

— On June 26, Jacob Wolf, 28, of Marquette, was sentenced to 38 months in prison for domestic assault by a habitual felon.

— On July 18, Eric Halfaday, 39, of Wilson, was sentenced to two years in prison for assault in the strangulation of an intimate partner.

— On November 18, Jason Michael Noguess, 33, of Delta County, was sentenced to 33 months in prison for assault by strangulation of an intimate partner.

The case was investigated by the FBI, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Police, Sault Tribal Police Department, Hannahville Police Department and Marquette City Police.
