Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Wide Receivers: Week 12 fantasy football

Byemaggedon has arrived.

Six teams have a bye in Week 12 and leave fantastic football managers trying to fill the gaps in their teams. They are only 13 NFL games in Week 12and with so many bands not playing and plenty winger injuriesit may seem like there will be a lack of options at this position this week.

Fortunately for struggling fantasy football managers, several players can add value to their lineups this week, even with byes and injuries. There are also a few other options that may not be as productive as fantasy players expect.

Here are which wide receivers to start in Week 12, as well as a few to avoid during byemaggedon:

NFL POWER RANKINGS: How far do the Kansas City Chiefs fall after their first loss?

Fantasy football kickoff: Week 12 wingers

Ladd McConkeyLos Angeles Chargers (vs. Baltimore Ravens)

McConkey has become one of the most productive rookie wide receivers in the NFL this season. Over the past four weeks, he has scored the 10th most fantasy points of any winger in non-PPR formats, surpassing the likes of Justin Jefferson AND Nacua knocks.

In Week 12, McConkey and the Chargers will face a Ravens defense that has allowed wideouts the third-most points this season and the eighth-most points on average over the last four weeks.

Josh DownsIndianapolis Colts (vs. Detroit Lions)

Downs took over the No. 1 winger from Michael Pittman in Indianapolis this year. Quarterback Anthony Richardson’s successful return in Week 11 reminded fans just how productive the Richardson-Downs connection has been this season. The second-year wide receiver caught five passes for 84 yards and his first touchdown since Week 8, which was Richardson’s last game as a starter before spending two weeks on the bench.

This week, the Colts will face a Lions team that has allowed wide receivers the fourth-most fantasy points this season.

Marvin Harrison Jr.Arizona Cardinals (@ Seattle Seahawks)

The rookie has struggled to maintain consistency in his first professional season, but has found the end zone in two of his last three appearances. Harrison’s last game came in Week 10 against a Jets defense that has been stingy with wide receivers in fantasy this year, and he still managed to catch all five targets for 54 yards and score a sixth touchdown, giving all Cardinals receivers an edge in the 2024

Big things could happen for Harrison this week. He has a divisional clash with the Seahawks defense that has allowed him to have some big games against top wide receivers over the past few weeks.

Fantasy Football Sit ’em: Week 12 Wingers

Malik NabersNew York Giants (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Nabers had 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns in the first four games. Then a concussion sidelined him for two weeks. In the four games since his head injury, the rookie winger has seen fewer targets and caught them at a slower rate. Over the past four weeks, he has recorded 26 catches for 221 yards and zero touchdowns.

Before Week 12, the Giants benched starting quarterback Daniel Jones for former third-stringer Tommy DeVito. It’s not worth relying on Nabers to return to form with a new signal-caller under center, even against a Bucs defense that has struggled to stop the pass this year.

GIANTS QB OPTIONS: Could Sam Darnold or Justin Fields replace Daniel Jones in 2025?

Xavier WorthyKansas City Chiefs (@ Carolina Panthers)

Worthy is having the second-best game of his rookie career with four catches and 61 yards, including his fourth touchdown. However, it came after five weeks during which he recorded a total of 11 catches (28 targets), 92 yards and one touchdown. Expect consistent production from Worthy, especially in size DeAndre Hopkins increasing targets and receptions would be unwise in a rookie’s career.

It doesn’t help Worthy that the Panthers haven’t given up many fantasy points to wingers this year. While this may be due to the game script – teams with a large advantage tend to control the football more – the trend is a trend. Don’t be fooled by Worthy’s big game in Week 11.

Cooper KuppLos Angeles Rams (vs. Philadelphia Eagles)

Kupp has been one of the most productive wide receivers in fantasy football since returning from injury. In his last three appearances, he has had two 100-yard rushes and two touchdowns against the Patriots in Week 11. However, he didn’t face a second-tier team like the Eagles.

As of Week 5, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s team appears to have everything figured out on that side of the ball. Here are the total passing yards by opposing quarterbacks over the last six weeks: 168, 99, 234, 169, 45, 191. Only one quarterback (Joe Burrow) surpassed 200 passing yards against Philadelphia’s tough secondary and leading pass catcher this season game for the Bengals was sharp Mike Gesicki.

The Rams will have a lot of work to do in Week 12, and Kupp likely won’t be able to have the impressive game he’s had in recent weeks.
