Interstate property criminal arrested and gold recovered

Hyderabad: A special team of Government Railway Protection (GRP), Secunderabad along with RPF personnel arrested an inter-state property criminal on Thursday and recovered 26.5 tula gold worth Rs 21 lakh. The arrested accused was wanted for four crimes committed in Secunderabad division.

The accused has been identified as Ranveer Singh (48), a driver hailing from north-west Delhi, and accused Samsheer, Satveer, Jagadeesh and Sumit, all from Haryana, are absconding.

Gang leader Ranveer Singh, after his release from Delhi jail, formed a gang with his associates and started stealing railway passengers in trains and railway stations in Rajasthan, Karnataka, SN Jawed, DSRP Secunderabad unit, it was revealed at a press meet on Thursday.

The accused attacked railway passengers and only committed theft of gold and silver jewelry, but later managed to melt down the stolen jewelry sold to goldsmiths in other states, evading identification, Jawed said.

Our teams arrested accused Ranveer Singh after 7 hours when he tried to commit a theft on platform number -1 of Secunderabad railway station, the DSP said.

Railway police confiscated 265 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 21,00,000.

According to the railway police, the accused along with the seized property was brought before the court for temporary arrest, and a special team was formed to arrest the accused who are at large.
