The coroner has identified the man who died after a chase in Berkeley Co. that ended in a crash

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The Berkeley County coroner has identified the man who died following a law enforcement pursuit.

Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell said James Blevins, 24, of Summerville, died from injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash occurred Wednesday around 9:40 p.m. on US-52 near Highway 17A, just over a mile from Moncks Corner.

Troopers say a 2018 Chevy Malibu was traveling south on Highway 17A when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a pole.

There was only the driver in the vehicle, who died on the spot.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office are investigating the collision.
