Police say a woman will face trial on drug charges after a body was found in a Richland hotel room

A Montgomery County woman will appear in Cambria County Court on drug possession charges after police reportedly found a body in a bathtub in a Richland Township hotel room, authorities said.

Summer Sheree Bechtold, 27, of Mont Clare, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Susan Gindlesperger of Upper Yoder Township.

Richland Township police charged Bechtold with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the affidavit, police were called to the Comfort Inn & Suites, 455 Theater Drive, on Nov. 6 for a report of a death.

When officers arrived, they allegedly found a man lying face down in a bathtub half-filled with water.

He was identified as Eric Carl, 30, of Florida, police Detective Kevin Gaudlip said.

Police allegedly found a tin foil pipe and a lighter in his right hand.

Police also found burnt aluminum foil, commonly used for illicit drugs, and one piece of aluminum foil containing white powder residue, according to the statement.

The victim’s cell phone allegedly contained a phone number that police traced to Bechtold.

Police said the two agreed to meet in a hotel room, and a hotel security camera allegedly showed Bechtold entering the room and leaving about an hour later.

Bechtold is being held in the Cambria County Jail in Ebensburg on $100,000 bail.
