Vancouver fan Taylor Swift offers an apartment in exchange for a ticket

Vancouver Swiftie hopes for a miracle when the pop star stops in Vancouver on her Eras Tour.

Jacci Rai was unable to get tickets when the pre-sale codes were announced last November. With the shows only a few weeks away and tickets still unavailable, Rai said her friend recommended her unique idea.

“We tried to think about what advantage we had by being in Vancouver and how we could access tickets without spending an arm and a leg. My friend suggested, “Well, why don’t you offer your apartment in exchange for tickets,” she said, adding that she lived a few minutes’ walk from the stadium.

Rai posted a video on TikTok describing her request. As of Wednesday, the video had been viewed by more than 66,000 people.

Although Rai said she has been contacted by several interested people, she has not yet found a suitable candidate.

“It’s not that weird, even though it sounds crazy,” she said. “I think this could be a really funny story.”

Walt Judas, CEO of the BC Tourism Industry Association, said Rai’s idea of turning lodging into a ticket is reminiscent of innovative lodging options that were common during the 2010 Olympics.

“I think people are creative,” he said. “And I hope that during that time we will see a whole bunch of people from out of town enjoying Vancouver.”

Given that some hotels during Swift’s December concerts are priced at more than $1,000 a night, Rai thinks she has a good chance her offer will work.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said. “We’ll do anything that’s even a little bit crazy. But what’s crazier? Am I giving up my apartment? Or spend four to six thousand dollars on tickets?
