Fugitive arrested in connection with 2023 Fall River murder

State police on Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old fugitive who has been on the run for more than a year after allegedly shooting a man in Fall River in May 2023 and also faces charges of accessory after the fact to a double murder in 2021, according to Bristol District Attorney Thomas’ office M. Quinn III.

Tajon Saxon was arrested in New Bedford in connection with the May 13, 2023 murder of 23-year-old Diamonte Odom, prosecutors said. Saxon is charged with murder and weapons offenses.

Separately, Saxon faces two counts of accessory after the fact in connection with the double murder of 29-year-old Jovaughn Mills and 14-year-old Miguel Sanjurjo, who were shot to death in Fall River in May 2021, prosecutors say.

Documents show Saxon was free on bail on an additional case when he failed to appear for a June 2023 hearing.

Officials said Saxon was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at the Supreme Court in Bristol. His lawyer handling the additional case declined to comment. It was unclear who was representing him in the murder case.

Jeremy Holmes of Fall River was arrested in 2021 for allegedly killing Mills and Sanjurjo, who were shot near Griffin Park. Documents show Holmes was convicted of the murders this month.

Saxon was arrested after an “intense manhunt,” Quinn’s office said.

Authorities have not indicated where they believe Saxon was hiding while he was a fugitive, nor have they provided details about what led them to his residence on Wednesday.
