Rams’ McVay frustrated with key aspect of offense

The Los Angeles Rams (4-5) took the field tonight and played inconsistently, especially offensively in their Week 10 home loss to the Miami Dolphins (3-6) on Monday Night Football. Head coach Sean McVay spoke after the game about the poor play of the offensive line.

The Rams brought back several key linemen who had been sidelined since the first weeks of the season. Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson returned from long injuries this week, and the entire team had a hard time keeping the Dolphins out of the backfield.

Coming into the contest, the Rams had not allowed a sack in their previous two games. They allowed four on Monday night, with much more action occurring early in the game and often throughout the loss.

“I wish I could have looked at the tape, but a lot of things didn’t match what we were looking for,” McVay said. “That’s why you hear us talk about the importance of continuity. (I) respect this defense a lot. They did a good job, but there were too many things that made it seem like we were absent and never gave up. chance. And it’s not just about the (offensive) line, we’re all in this together and we’re going to look at it and we have to be able to get better, and everything is on the table.

McVay blamed the entire group, which is especially fair considering the Rams didn’t score a touchdown and were up 3-12 after third down. The leading strength of this struggle was the lack of time Stafford had to throw the ball.

At one point in the game, the Rams decided to change things up and move Jonah Jackson from tackle to center and rookie Beaux Limmer to tackle. The changeup wasn’t beneficial because Jackson had a high snap that flew over Stafford suffer a huge loss on a crucial disk.

“Both Steve (Avila) and Jonah (Jackson) were ready to go,” McVay said. “(I) wanted to be able to see what it looked like. You never know exactly, but we always try to do what we think is best and it will be a good film for us to look at and see what we think about it, it’s the best way to put the guys in the right places to give them a chance to succeed success, and ultimately to our attack.”

The Dolphins defense had a good day in all four quarters. Including four sacks, they recorded seven tackles for loss and six quarterback hits.

Veteran Dolphins defensive end Calais Campbell was the top player on the field with three tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and two pass deflections. The Dolphins had their hands up all evening as they forced an interception on a pass early in the game.

“Getting his hands down and being able to beat some throw lines,” McVay said, referring to the Dolphins’ defensive game plan. “It seemed a little loose at first. As the match went on, I thought we were able to defend better, which gave us a chance to hold on to some of our attacks, but ultimately we weren’t able to finish the match in the red. But hats off to them They did a really good job and there seemed to be a ton of bodies at the point of attack, especially on some early third downs.

The Rams will look to improve their offensive line this week as they hit the road to face the New England Patriots (3-7) in Week 11. This will be good for Avila, Jacksonand a few other people at the front to watch this video and make appropriate adjustments for next week.
