Amid mounting allegations against a section of CID officials involved in corrupt practices, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said she would initiate a complete reshuffle in the state department.

Addressing a meeting at the State Secretariat ‘Nabanna’, the West Bengal CM called for stringent action against those found guilty in the complaints. She directed DGP Rajeev Kumar to look into the “complaints” received against some CID officials and take action if found to be genuine. She also urged him (Kumara) to take steps to strengthen the Special Task Force (STF) and the anti-corruption bureau.

“I will initiate a complete reshuffle of the CID. I entrust you (Kumar) with the responsibility… Give me suggestions and check the complaints. Sometimes false complaints are also filed. If they turn out to be true, take decisive action. Don’t spare me even if necessary,” Banerjee said.

“I will not tolerate a section of the police and CISF accepting bribes and being involved in stealing coal, cement and sand and then people will blame the Trinamool Congress. If any political leader is involved, he should also be caught and put behind bars. To this day, I have never taken a bribe from anyone. The law should be equal for everyone,” the Prime Minister assured.
