A man suspected of beating an elderly person was arrested

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man was arrested after police say he beat a senior citizen.

On Sunday, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about an alleged battery.

The suspect was subsequently identified as 38-year-old William Forrest Tropf III. During the investigation, deputies learned that Tropf was on probation in California for attempted possession of a firearm as a prohibited person.

Tropf was arrested Wednesday and is currently booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of battery by intern and probation violation.
