Houston’s mayor announces plan to address homelessness

HOUSTONHouston Mayor John Whitmire and community leaders unveiled their plan Thursday to address homelessness in the city.

The mayor’s plan is said to include reducing the number of people sleeping on the streets, aid, housing, law enforcement and remediating public spaces.

Representatives from the city’s Department of Housing and Community Development, the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, the Houston/Harris County Homeless Coalition, Central Houston, Inc and the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD were in attendance.
