The former Raptors shutout finds his place in the NBA

Gradey Dick, the No. 13 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has had a tumultuous first season in the NBA.

In his first 14 games before reaching the G League, he averaged just 4.0 points on 27% shooting, a far cry from the threat he posed for the Jayhawks. However, his time spent with Raptors 905 did him good and he finished his debut season with an average of 12.5 points on 41% shooting in 21 games.

Now, the 6-foot-10 wing seems to be truly finding his footing in the NBA.

In the Raptors’ loss to the Timberwolves on Saturday, Dick was the star of the show for Toronto, scoring a starting lineup-high 25 points while making 9 of 16 overall and 4 of 9 from three-point range. He also added two assists, a rebound and a steal.

However, this was not his first good performance in the new season.

Through three games, Dick is currently averaging 16.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 45% overall and 37% from beyond the arc.

His statistical jump would be a huge benefit for Toronto, which is still looking for long-term prospects to add another star in Scottie Barnes for the foreseeable future.

Dick becoming a true member of the team’s core is crucial for the Rapors, who likely don’t want to spend the 2025 NBA draft cycle looking for more off-the-ball scoring with so much franchise talent at the top.
