One of them charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after an accident in Oro-Medonte

The three passengers in the second vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A Barrie man is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, after a two-vehicle crash in Oro-Medonte.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to Forbes Road and Old Barrie Road on Saturday around 6 p.m.

Three passengers in one of the vehicles were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Witnesses told arriving officers that the driver of the second vehicle fled the scene on foot.

The canine unit helped track the suspect approximately 1.5 kilometers from the scene of the collision.

Ryan O’Hara, 27, of Barrie was charged with:

  • Surgery in case of impairment
  • Surgery for disabled people – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Failed to stay
  • Careless driving
  • Failure to surrender license
  • No insurance waivers

In addition, their driving license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was confiscated for 7 days.
