The 54-year-old son of a former DGP commits suicide in MP

The 54-year-old son of former Director General of Chhattisgarh Police committed suicide by slitting his wrist and neck with a knife at his residence in Bhopal.

According to the police, Shree Mohan Shukla’s son Tushar Shukla lived with his retired DGP father, mother, wife and son.

Tushar’s wife and son noticed that he was bleeding profusely on Saturday evening and took him to Hajela Private Hospital near their home.

However, doctors concluded that he had been brought dead. After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and sent the body for autopsy.

Tushar was suffering from depression for the last few years and was undergoing treatment for the same.

According to sources, Tushar tried to commit suicide twice in the past.

Shree Mohan Shukla was the first DGP of Chhattisgarh when it was created after its separation from Madhya Pradesh in 2000. SM Shukla’s tenure was from November 1, 2000 to May 26, 2001, during the Congress rule under the leadership of late chief minister Ajit Jogi.

After his retirement, SM Shukla became the chairman of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC). His term of office lasted from May 26, 2001 to October 2, 2004.

SM Shukla is originally a 1965 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IPS officer.
