An update was issued after a woman allegedly kissed a boy on the face and tried to kidnap a girl near a school in Merseyside earlier this month. Merseyside Police confirmed that they had received two reports of a woman acting suspiciously in the Stamford Road area Birkdalenear Christ the King High School and Sixth Form.

The first report concerns an incident in which a teenage boy was inappropriately touched. The ECHO can reveal the school previously sent a letter to parents and carers alleging the boy was picked up at around 3.05pm outside a shop at the junction of Bedford Road and Kew Road. The letter explained that the boy was approached before the woman “touched him and kissed him on the face while appearing to be intoxicated.”

It is still alleged that she offered him a lift before he left with friends. In a separate incident, a girl was offered a ride outside school. Both events took place on Wednesday, November 6. A 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of sexual touching and attempted child abduction. Police confirmed the woman remains on bail and investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

This has been previously reported by the ECHO The incident involving the student occurred around 4:40 p.m., when the woman driving the car tried to persuade the girl to get into the car. She initially drove past the girl, then backed up and rolled down her window to ask repeatedly if she wanted a ride, who she was with and where she was going. According to the school, when the driver realized the girl was being taken away, she “quickly accelerated.”

Detective Inspector Edward Barr said: “Our investigation is at a very early stage as we try to establish what happened and I would ask people not to comment or speculate while this investigation is ongoing. It is important that we conduct our investigation fully and fairly. The woman was released on bail under strict conditions while we continue to investigate. We continue to support injured people and their families.

“We have increased patrols in the Birkdale area to reassure people and I would ask anyone who has any concerns or has information that could assist our investigation to contact us urgently.”
