The family of a murdered Portage Park woman is raising funds for a funeral

PORTAGE PARK — The family of a Portage Park woman who was allegedly killed by her husband earlier this week raising money for her funeral.

Authorities said Lacramioara Beldie, 54, was fatally stabbed in Portage Park on Tuesday. Lacramioara Beldie’s husband, Constantin Beldie, is accused of murder. He was found dead Tuesday night in a car a block away, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Court records show that 57-year-old Constantin Beldie used violence against his wife in the past.

On Friday, Lacramioara Beldie’s children, Ani, Antonio and Felix, launched a GoFundMe is raising money for their mother’s burial.

According to report from the Chicago Tribune, Lacramioara Beldie, whom her friends called Mirela, worked as a nanny. As part of the collection organized by her daughter Ani Beldie, it was stated that for many she is a “second mother”.

“She put her heart into caring for others, creating lasting relationships with the families she worked with,” wrote Ani Beldie. “Her caring spirit, patience and dedication touched the lives of children and parents alike, and her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.”

Funds raised will be used to transport Lacramioara Beldie back to her native Romania and for a memorial service, the fundraiser said. The GoFundMe goal is $20,000, and as of Saturday morning, about $13,500 had been raised.

On GoFundMe, Ani Beldie wrote that “her mother’s soul was a ray of light.”

“Her spirit left an eternal mark on all those who had the honor of crossing her path. No matter what life threw her way, Mirela had a smile that radiated warmth, compassion and love,” wrote Ani Beldie. “Even in the most difficult of times, her positive attitude and unyielding kindness shone brightly, bringing comfort and joy to those around her.”

Court records show that Lacramioara Beldie and Constantin Beldie had been married for about 30 years but were separated. Court records show that Lacramioara Beldie filed for a protective order against her husband in January. She claimed that her husband was “physically and emotionally abusive” throughout their long relationship and made frequent death threats, including: “I could kill you right now, put you in a bag and take you to the lake” and “You know how easy that is.” is it to kill someone?” according to the Sun-Times.

Lacramioara Beldie filed for a second protection order in October after her husband allegedly tried to kidnap her. She received an emergency order of protection, but Judge Thomas E. Nowinski released Constantin Beldi on GPS monitoring– according to court documents.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Constantin Beldie allegedly stabbed his wife in the 5600 block of West Leland Avenue. An off-duty Chicago police detective who witnessed the stabbing and tried to intervene suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the incident. Police did not say who fired the bullet that hit the officer.

Elected officials and domestic violence advocates have stated this The Cook County justice system failed Lacramioara Beldie by releasing her husband despite his history of violence.
