SAPD says man killed and woman injured after clash with burglars outside Twin Peaks restaurant

The confrontation occurred on Saturday around 1 a.m

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police officers said an attempted burglary turned into a deadly shooting outside a Northwest Side restaurant.

Investigators said a man and a woman were eating dinner at Twin Peaks around 1 a.m. Saturday, off the Interstate 10 access road near De Zavala Road. Police said that after they finished eating, the man and woman left the restaurant and found multiple people trying to break into their car.

The man attacked the burglars and a verbal fight broke out. An SAPD sergeant at the scene told KSAT that one of the burglars pulled out a gun and shot at the man.

The man was hit in the chest. After the arrival of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said the woman was grazed by the same bullet but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the shooting suspect left the scene in a dark-colored vehicle. It is unclear how many burglars were involved in the incident.

SAPD said the investigation is ongoing.
