Family identifies three relatives killed in fatal South Side crash

SAN ANTONIO – The mourning family spoke to KSAT one day after… fatal hit and run accident he killed three of his relatives.

The Salas family confirmed that the victims were Juan Pablo Salas (61), Leslie Salas (25), and Yareli Salas (22). Juan Pablo is the father of sisters Leslie and Yarela, the family said.

On Saturday morning, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the sisters’ identities to KSAT.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene around 5 a.m. Friday near U.S. Highway 281 and Roosevelt Avenue after a man rear-ended their three-passenger vehicle.

After the first collision, police said the vehicle containing Juan Pablo, Leslie and Yareli was diverted into the opposite lane, where it collided with another car.

San Antonio police said the driver of the third vehicle was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The driver, who authorities say caused the crash, fled the scene on foot. San Antonio police later caught up with him and arrested him.

On Saturday, KSAT contacted SAPD. At this time, the department is not disclosing the identity of the suspect and is awaiting consideration of possible charges.
