Police nab two people for killing a man and injuring another in Dhakola

Police have arrested 19-year-old Sonu, a resident of Mani Majra, and 29-year-old Varun Rai, a resident of Delhi, for allegedly stabbing a Dhakola man, Dilawar Singh, and stabbing another in Zirakpur on Friday. The police seized a knife and a motorcycle used by the accused during the crime.

Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon said, “The accused Sonu saw his friend Dilawar Singh a few days ago and developed hostility towards him. Dilawar died and Shubham was seriously injured after both were attacked by armed assailants in Zirakpur in the early morning hours of November 22. Dilawar and his friend Shubham were returning from a gas station in Baltana when two assailants came from behind and blocked their way. They attacked the victims with swords and knives on their chests, inflicting serious injuries on them. The accused then fled. The victims tried to board the two-wheeler to reach safety but fell on the road.”

Zirakpur DSP Jaspinder Singh Gill said, “Police reached the spot and took them to hospital where Dilawar died. We solved the blind murder case within 24 hours.”

After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family. The deceased was a daily wager. He left behind a wife and a seven-year-old daughter.

A case under sections 103, 109, 115 (2), 126 (2) and 3 (5) of BNS was registered at Zirakpur police station on November 22.
