Live broadcast on Facebook saves a man from a suicide attempt

Jaipur: Authorities said Sunday that a man who was there may not have died after hanging himself, which he broadcast live on Facebook after his friend alerted police. He added that he was taken to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur for treatment.

The incident took place on Saturday evening when Pavan, a resident of Bagru town in Jaipur, checked into a hotel on the Ajmer highway, station officer Dalbeer Singh said.

The officer said he went live on Facebook from his hotel room, threatening to commit suicide.

His friend, who saw the entire incident, immediately informed his friend, Jaipur Police Commissioner. He added that the policeman found out the man’s whereabouts and notified the hotel staff.

After confirmation, the staff broke into the room and found Pavan, who was about to hang himself from the ceiling fan. They immediately intervened and rescued him, the SHO said.

Further investigation into this matter is ongoing, he added.
