Three people were killed in clashes during a violent protest against the inventory of the Sambhal mosque in Uttar Pradesh

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav slammed the BJP, saying the ruling party, government and administration orchestrated the violence “to divert attention from electoral malpractices.”

According to the local administration, the second survey conducted by the “commissioner’s lawyer” as part of the court-ordered inspection of the disputed site began around 7 a.m. and a crowd began to gather there.

“Some miscreants in the crowd threw stones at the police. The police used light force and tear gas to bring the situation under control, said Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Vishnoi.

He said those involved in stone pelting and those who instigated it would be identified and action taken against them.

“We are in the process of registering an FIR in the incident. The accused will also be included in the NSA list,” added the police officer.

District officials said the survey work was scheduled for the morning to avoid disturbing prayers at the mosque, which usually take place in the afternoon.

The research team ended its work soon after the stone-pelting incident.

District judge Rajendra Pesia said, “Some miscreants have resorted to stone pelting, but the situation is calm now.”

“About 10 people were detained in connection with the stone-pelting incident. Interrogations are ongoing,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Police Chief Prashant Kumar told PTI that the situation in Sambhal is under control.

“We monitor everything. All police and civil administration officers are dealing with the situation on site. They patrol these areas. Anti-social elements will be identified soon and stringent action will be taken against them,” said the Director General of Police. (DGP) – he said.

Videos of youths throwing stones at police, allegedly near the poll venue in Sambhal, have surfaced online.

Additional police units have been deployed near the mosque to ensure law and order, and officials are closely monitoring the situation.

At a press conference in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, “A major incident took place in Sambhal. In the morning, a research team was deliberately sent to disrupt discussion of the election. The aim was to create chaos so that there could be no debate on electoral issues. ”

“I don’t want to go into the legal or procedural aspects, but the other side was not heard at all. This was done on purpose to arouse emotions and avoid discussion about election fraud,” he said.

“What happened in Sambhal was orchestrated by the BJP, the government and the administration to divert attention from electoral malpractices,” the former UP chief minister said.

The Sambhal district administration on Saturday placed 34 people on bail worth up to Rs 10 lakh amid concerns about breach of peace.

Divisional Magistrate Vandana Mishra told PTI on Saturday that the jailed persons include Mamlukur Rahman Barq, father of Samajwadi Party’s Sambhal MP Zia ur Rahman Barq.

Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, who is filing a petition in the case, said that a judge of the Civil Court (senior division) had ordered the formation of an ‘Advocates Commission’ to investigate the mosque.
