3 people died in violence during the inspection of the Sambhal mosque

At a press conference in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, “A major incident took place in Sambhal. In the morning, a research team was deliberately sent to disrupt discussion of the election. The aim was to create chaos so that no debate on electoral issues could take place. “

“I don’t want to go into the legal or procedural aspects, but the other side was not heard at all. This was done on purpose to arouse emotions and avoid discussion about election fraud,” he said.

“What happened in Sambhal was orchestrated by the BJP, the government and the administration to divert attention from electoral malpractices,” the former UP chief minister said.

The Sambhal district administration on Saturday placed 34 people on bail worth up to Rs 10 lakh amid concerns about breach of peace.

Divisional Magistrate Vandana Mishra told PTI on Saturday that the jailed persons include Mamlukur Rahman Barq, father of Samajwadi Party’s Sambhal MP Zia ur Rahman Barq.

Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain, who is filing a petition in the case, said that a judge of the Civil Court (senior division) had ordered the formation of an ‘Advocates Commission’ to investigate the mosque.

The court said the report should be submitted after the committee conducts a survey on videography and photography, he added.

The Central and Uttar Pradesh governments, the mosque committee and district magistrate Sambhal have become parties to the mosque petition, Jain said last Tuesday.

Vishnu Shankar Jain and his father Hari Shankar Jain represented the Hindu side in many matters related to places of worship, including the dispute between the Gyanvapi Mosque and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Gopal Sharma, a local lawyer of the Hindu side, told PTI on Friday that in his petition submitted to the court, he had mentioned that ‘Baburnama’ and ‘Ain-e-Akbari’ had confirmed that Jama Masjid stands on the spot where it now stands.

He also claimed that the temple was demolished by the Mughal emperor Babur in 1529.

Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Zia Ur Rehman Barq opposed such developments.

“The Jama Masjid in Sambhal is a historic and very old structure. In 1991, the Supreme Court issued an order that whatever religious places have been there in any condition since 1947 will remain in their places,” he said.

The next hearing date in this case is January 29.
