A British Army officer attacked after finding a dummy grenade at an airport

A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘At around 08:05 on Wednesday, October 16, security called police at Edinburgh Airport after a recalled munitions device was found while scanning a passenger’s hand luggage.

“A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with this and released on condition he appear in court at a later date.”

An Army spokesman said: “On October 16, a service member was involved in a security incident at Edinburgh Airport.

“As this matter is the subject of ongoing litigation, we will not comment further.”

The Crown Office and the Prosecutor Fiscal have been contacted for comment.
