Traffic changes in force at the JLP National Conference

KINGSTON, Jamaica – According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), several traffic changes are in effect for Sunday’s annual conference of the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) at the National Arena.

BEFORE THE EVENT

From 09:00: Arthur Wint Drive will operate as a one-way road towards the National Stadium (eastbound). Drivers coming from this direction must turn left on Roosevelt Avenue, right on Stanton Terrace, right on Mountain View Avenue, then right on Arthur Wint Drive to access the parking lot. Only vehicles with VIP passes will be able to access Roosevelt Avenue towards the stadium, and only event attendees will be able to access Arthur Wint Drive from Mountain View Avenue.

JCF says there will be no through traffic on Arthur Wint Drive between Gates E4 and the Bob Marley statue at the intersection with Roosevelt Avenue as the area will be restricted to pedestrian traffic.

Residents traveling from Mountain View Avenue to The Lofts Apartments will be able to turn onto Arthur Wint Drive to access the apartments.
Stadium Gardens residents will be able to exit and enter the Arthur Wint Drive estate, but only eastbound (one-way).

Additionally, parking is prohibited on the following roads:
• Arthur Wint’s Drive
• Roosevelt Avenue
• Stanton Terrace
• Alley overlooking the mountains
• Latham Avenue

Police warn that vehicles parked illegally will be towed.
Motorists are advised to park their vehicles facing the direction of traffic after the event to ensure smoother traffic flow after the event.

AFTER THE EVENT
• Arthur Wint Drive, from gate E4 towards Tom Redcam Avenue, will be a one-way westbound service.
• Roosevelt Avenue will return to normal traffic.
• Arthur Wint Drive, from gate E5 towards Mountain View Avenue, will be one-way eastbound.

Drivers traveling on North and Central Avenues towards Arthur Wint Drive will only be able to turn right onto Arthur Wint Drive. Emergency vehicles will use these roads to reach Bustamante Children’s Hospital.

Latham Avenue will be operated as one-way northwestbound toward Old Hope Road. For approximately 45 minutes after the event, Stadium Gardens residents will be able to leave the development by turning left onto Arthur Wint Drive, but will not be able to enter the property during this time.

We ask all participants, including drivers and pedestrians, to follow the instructions given by the police and other security personnel.
