Chicago police officers injured during riots in West Garfield Park – NBC Chicago

Chicago police say multiple people are under investigation after three officers were injured while responding to a call for service on Saturday.

According to Chicago police, officers were called to a disturbance in the 4300 block of West Madison around 12:24 p.m.

According to authorities, when officers arrived at the scene in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, they were beaten by multiple attackers.

A total of three people were arrested and three Chicago police officers were transported to local hospitals, where they were treated and released for various injuries.

One of the suspects, a 34-year-old man, was charged with misdemeanor charges of resisting a peace officer and aggravated assault on a government employee. His hearing in pre-trial detention is scheduled for Sunday.

Police said criminal proceedings were still ongoing against the other two people.
