A Colombian woman accused of robbery left her prison ID card in her stolen purse

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A woman with a laundry list of criminal activity and arrested in connection with two robberies has been identified after leaving her prison ID in one of the purses she allegedly stole.

Angel Riggins was charged with two counts of robbery after she allegedly stole two purses on the morning of Nov. 18 in northeast Columbus, according to court documents.

Police said Riggins approached a woman sitting in a car parked at the corner of Agler Road and Joyce Avenue around 12:35 p.m. After knocking on the driver’s side window and identifying herself as “Angel,” Riggins reportedly opened the car door and pulled the driver out of the vehicle.

Riggins then allegedly attacked the woman while reaching into her purse. The assault reportedly lasted approximately 10 minutes, after which Riggins fled with the victim’s wallet, cash, phone and makeup bag.

About six hours later, less than a mile west, at the COTA bus stop at 3100 Cleveland Avenue, Riggins allegedly approached a woman and tried to remove her purse from her shoulder. Police reported that a confrontation occurred. Higgins fled and the victim managed to recover her purse.

The victim then noticed that the purse contained a Franklin County Jail ID card and medical records belonging to Riggins. Both victims were able to identify Riggins from mugshots.

A Franklin County Municipal Court judge set bail at $100,000 for Riggins, who also faces criminal trespass charges in connection with the Oct. 27 incident. Riggins has been convicted or charged with a number of crimes over the past 15 years, including theft, petty theft, domestic violence, burglary, forgery, robbery, burglary and escape.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 27 for a preliminary hearing.
