Police have offered a reward of GH,000 for people wearing NDC attire threatening violence during the elections

The Ghana Police Service has offered a reward of GHG 20,000 for the group of people in National Democratic Congress colors threatening acts of violence before the general elections scheduled for December 7.

Police, in a statementstated the actions of people belonging to the “NDC Youth of Obuasi” violated Art. 207 Crimes Act 1960 (Act 29).

Police say they have been on the run since video of them making the threats hit the Internet.

The services launched an operation aimed at apprehending the suspects and bringing them to justice.

An updated press statement issued on Sunday, November 24 by the Police Public Affairs Unit urged “anyone with credible information to contact the police on the dedicated telephone number 0547927272.”

That reward comes later police arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Wontumi FM presenter and broadcaster, for offenses including publishing fake news.

Asiedu, a New Patriotic Party waist, was invited by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on November 23 and detained.

He is said to have encouraged voters to cast their votes for presidential candidates on different days in the upcoming elections.

Asiedu falsely claimed that candidates ranking first to seventh on the ballot would be held on the first day and candidates ranking eighth to thirteen would be held on the next day.

His comments and arrest come after the NDC flag bearer, John Mahama, accused the president disinformation campaign against him.

NDC condemns its messenger

YEN.com.gh reported that The NDC criticized one of its communicators for insulting former president John Kufuor.

In a recent statement from its communications directorate, the opposition also apologized to the statesman.

In a statement, the NDC also said the offending broadcaster had personally apologized to the former president.
