Wrong-way driver arrested after hitting multiple vehicles, shootout with police officer

A man was arrested in Southlake, Texas Friday morning after allegedly driving down the wrong street, hitting vehicles and firing a rifle at multiple people, including a police officer.

Southlake cops responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. Friday from the 600 block of West Southlake Boulevard about a wrong-way driver.

The driver struck multiple vehicles while traveling eastbound before crashing at 1400 East Southlake Boulevard, police said in a news release.

As the officer approached the scene of the accident, the suspect pulled a rifle from his vehicle and began shooting at the officer and another driver.

The officer exchanged fire with the wrong-way driver, but neither he, the suspect, nor the other driver were injured.

The officer and other officers present at the scene managed to detain the suspect, where he has been since Sunday.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business shows people fleeing the scene of the shooting. A man can be heard shouting, “He’s got a gun!”

A news release from Southlake Police identified the wrong-way driver as 19-year-old Sean Wallace Jordan of Colleyville, Texas. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, acute attack against a public official and resisting arrest, search or transportation.

Online records show Jordan is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on $271,500 bail. It was not immediately clear whether he had retained an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
